Ofcom strives to uphold standards in broadcasting and to protect the public from harmful and offensive content that they may see or hear on TV or radio. But, quite often, there’s confusion around what Ofcom does, how they work, and what they can and can’t enforce.
We created a playful animation to brighten what is often seen as quite a dry topic, to raise brand awareness that Ofcom handles broadcast complaints and to educate people about how that process works. The video was primarily created to be used across social media platforms (YouTube/Vimeo, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) with English, Welsh, Punjabi and Urdu language versions. The animation is purposefully evergreen so that it can be re-published anytime Ofcom see a large volume of complaints coming in, or whenever media sources create stories about complaints to Ofcom. The English version received over 45k views on Twitter in just the first couple of weeks.
