Activate Learning was launching three innovative programmes designed for SMEs and individuals passionate about sustainability. With SMEs often feeling that sustainability is out of reach, we needed to show that sustainability education is beneficial for businesses of all sizes.

Many SMEs face challenges such as limited resources, a lack of awareness about the benefits of sustainability training, and difficulty finding suitable training programs. These programmes aim to upskill participants and advance their careers.

Our research revealed critical insights: only one in ten small businesses measure their carbon footprint, and one in five don’t fully understand “net zero.”

With 80% of people feeling responsible for the environment, it was essential to make sustainability accessible and relatable to SMEs.

To tackle these challenges, we developed a new identity for the courses that convey the seriousness and importance of sustainability education for SMEs, with carefully crafted communications demonstrating how sustainability can benefit small businesses.

Changing perceptions and making sustainability accessible

We developed a bespoke look and feel to distinguish and promote the programmes. This included a unique “badge” for collateral and a consistent style for all communications. The benefit-led customer value positioning statement, “Helping you navigate sustainability,” clearly articulates the purpose and value of the courses.

A comprehensive suite of assets supported the launch and promotion of the programmes, including a landing page, a 16-page digital guide detailing the courses, eye-catching A4 posters to promote the programmes, social media assets, a course guide, a PowerPoint template, and a custom Teams background.

We ensured consistency with the visual identity, creating a new identity that will go on to represent future sustainability programmes.

By creating a visually engaging, concise, and on-brand set of materials, we enhanced the effectiveness of message delivery. This approach ensured that key takeaways were clearly communicated and understood, empowering SMEs to embrace sustainability.
