Specialist communication support for inclusion, belonging and employee voice

Organisations lose out when employees do not feel included or heard. Ideas stay unspoken, decisions go unchallenged, valuable insight is missed and talent leaves.

To build trust and support stronger performance across the organisation, we create global inclusion campaigns, shape inclusive leadership communication and develop employee voice communications and practical tools for employee resource groups ERGs.

We combine strategic thinking, lived experience, cultural sensitivity, human judgement and award-winning creativity to create communication that works across roles, regions and cultures without losing meaning.

We create communication that makes inclusion visible, gives employees greater confidence to speak up and strengthens the trust and belonging that drive organisational performance.

Communication for inclusion, belonging and employee voice

Some organisations need to bring an inclusion strategy to life. Others want employees to feel safer speaking up, leaders to communicate sensitive issues more credibly or employee networks to have greater reach and influence.

We support inclusion and belonging campaigns, employee voice and listening, inclusive leadership communication and communications for ERGs and employee networks.

These are sensitive areas where language, representation and cultural context matter. We bring the specialist judgement to avoid stereotypes, reflect employees authentically and create communication that can work across different identities, regions and working environments.

Whether we are creating a global campaign, helping leaders open better conversations or giving employee-led groups practical tools, our focus is the same: making it easier for people to contribute and for organisations to benefit from what they have to say.

Why inclusion and employee voice matter to business performance

When people do not feel included or heard, organisations lose ideas, innovation, insight and talent.

Employees who feel their opinions are heard are 4.6 times more likely to feel empowered to perform at their best (Salesforce, 2023). Yet 41% have left a job because they felt their feedback was not valued (Exploding Topics, 2024).

The risk grows when employer promises do not match employee experience. Trust in leadership weakens, people become less likely to speak up and underrepresented employees may disengage or leave. Collaboration suffers, decisions lose valuable perspective and cultural issues can quickly become reputational ones.

In a more polarised and volatile environment, inclusion and employee voice are part of business resilience. Getting the communication right takes honest listening, culturally aware judgement and visible follow-through so people know their contribution matters.

We bring specialist experience and creative thinking to make inclusion credible across the organisation, helping protect trust and create the conditions for people to speak up and contribute fully.

Inclusion and employee voice communication FAQs

Workplace inclusion communication helps turn organisational commitments into something employees can see, understand and take part in.

This can include global inclusion campaigns, employee storytelling, inclusive leadership communication and practical support for managers and employee networks.

The communication should reflect the workforce honestly and show how inclusion connects to everyday behaviour, decisions and working relationships.

Employee voice is the ability for people to share ideas, raise concerns and influence decisions that affect their work.

Strong employee voice gives organisations access to insight that may otherwise stay hidden. It can expose emerging risks, improve decisions and help leaders understand how policies, change and culture are being experienced across the workforce.

Collecting feedback is only the beginning. Employees also need to see how the organisation has responded and what will happen next.

An authentic inclusion campaign begins with real employee experiences rather than corporate statements.

Employees and networks should have meaningful opportunities to shape the narrative, language and creative work. Representation needs to be considered throughout the process, including imagery, accessibility, cultural context and whose voices are being heard.

The strongest campaigns make space for people to contribute their own stories rather than defining inclusion for them.

Leaders communicate about inclusion credibly when their messages reflect what employees are experiencing and are supported by visible action.

They need to listen before speaking, use straightforward and inclusive language and avoid making claims the employee experience cannot support. Leaders should also be prepared to acknowledge difficult issues and explain what the organisation is doing in response.

Communication builds trust when employees can see a connection between the message, leadership behaviour and workplace decisions.

Communication can help ERGs and employee networks explain their purpose, grow participation and share their insight across the organisation.

Useful support might include Playbooks, messaging frameworks, launch materials, editable templates and practical tools for network leads. A global framework can provide consistency while leaving room for local groups to reflect their own culture, community and priorities.

Something Big supports the communication around employee-led groups. We do not establish or manage ERGs on behalf of organisations.

Closing the loop means telling employees what the organisation heard, what action will be taken and what cannot change.

The response should be timely and honest. Even where no immediate action is possible, explaining why helps employees see that their feedback was considered.

Regular updates, manager conversations and visible progress help turn employee listening from a one-off exercise into a trusted part of how the organisation works.

Global inclusion communication needs a shared central idea that can work across different cultures, languages, roles and working environments.

Local context matters. Language or imagery that works in one country may be inappropriate or unsafe elsewhere. The communication should be tested with people who understand those contexts and adapted without losing the central purpose.

Channels and formats should also reflect how employees work, particularly where frontline teams have limited access to email or intranets.

Inclusion and employee voice communication should be measured through participation, trust and what changes as a result.

Measures could include campaign engagement, contributions from employees, confidence to speak up, manager readiness, belonging scores, feedback themes and actions completed. Retention, employee relations data and behaviour change may also provide useful evidence over time.

The right measures depend on whether the goal is to build awareness, open conversations, strengthen employee voice or change everyday behaviour.
