Bringing a newly formed team together around a shared ambition
British Gas | Team values and culture video
Context
Following a restructure, British Gas brought several teams together to form a new Zero function. With the aim of helping customers reduce their carbon impact, they needed to learn to work together as one team with a consistent culture and a clear sustainability focus.
Approach
We worked with British Gas to create a powerful culture video that introduced the function’s new values and behaviours. Designed to align colleagues around a shared purpose, the film turned the cultural framework into something emotive and motivational.
Outcome
The launch video gave the new team a stronger sense of identity and pride in its role. Featuring real employees and focusing on customer impact, it helped to connect colleagues and renew their belief in the team’s ambition.
Following an internal restructure, the newly formed Zero function at British Gas brought together colleagues from different parts of the organisation, each with their own history and ways of working.
Without creating a sense of togetherness, the function risked carrying old silos into the new structure and undermining the culture, collaboration and focus they needed to deliver on the organisation’s net zero mission.
British Gas had already defined the values and behaviours to guide this shift. Our challenge was to translate them into a relatable, human story that would resonate with colleagues and remind them of their positive impact on customers’ worlds.
Placing employees at the centre of an internal culture video
We took the behaviours British Gas wanted to champion and turned them into a script that connected the team’s everyday roles to their wider sustainability goals. It was about cutting through the corporate language to craft a message that felt authentic and inspirational. The script focused not just on what the team does, but why it matters – for customers, communities and the environment.
To create a sense of connection, it was important that the video felt like it belonged to the team. British Gas colleagues delivered the voiceover and appeared throughout the film, alongside team photography, on-site filming and carefully selected stock footage.
Creating an inspirational launch moment for a new team
On launch day, the film was shared with the wider team as part of the Zero function’s introduction. Following the restructure, it created a meaningful moment for colleagues. The video set the tone for how the new team would work together and helped everyone understand their role in achieving British Gas’ future goals.
It also became a valuable onboarding asset, helping new joiners quickly understand the team’s purpose and culture.
How we made a meaningful difference
By giving the values and behaviours more emotional weight, we created a strong cultural foundation for British Gas’ new Zero team. After a period of change, the launch film gave people an anchor, helping previously separate teams feel clear on expectations and excited for the future.
